About Our School
Why Dungarvan CBS?
Our Ethos
In line with the values of the ERST Charter, our school is based on the founding intention and the life of blessed Edmund Rice.
Care for the disadvantaged and vulnerable, a strong opposition to poverty and injustice, fostering of leadership and a deep commitment to the Catholic faith are characteristics of an Edmund Rice school.
Dungarvan CBS promote equality of access and participation – in other words, children of any faith, or none, at every level of ability, of any nationality or ethnic grouping are all cherished in our school given the opportunity to be the best they can be.
We recognise the uniqueness of each individual in a caring community where holistic development is nurtured. Enrolment processes are open and transparent and the highest educational, developmental and pastoral standards apply in our school.

Our Mission
Dungarvan CBS is a community that embraces Christian values. The education it provides is rooted in a deep sense of faith. We aim to create a positive inclusive environment which enables everyone to reach their full potential.
We promote mutual respect within the school community and strive to provide a happy and secure atmosphere which fosters a love of learning. We encourage the development of the whole person, by fostering the personal, spiritual and moral development of every student. The realisation of individual talents and academic excellence is paramount. We aim to create a friendly, healthy, safe and caring environment which affirms our pride in the school. We promote the development of the necessary skills so that students may become responsible members of society. It is our wish to see every student leave Dungarvan CBS with moral integrity and a heightened sense of social conscience.
Our Purpose is To provide a caring & respectful community of learning where everyone can reach their true potential.

Inclusive, Caring, Supportive
Our Vision is to create the best and most inclusive educational community in Dungarvan where everyone feels valued and safe, where ambition and excellence are encouraged and where all students are inspired to see and reach their full potential.
Transition from Primary
At Dungarvan CBS we are very aware that the transition from primary school to secondary school can be a daunting step in a young person’s life. We make every effort to ensure that this step is an exciting and positive one.
First Year Students are the first group of students to start in late August. To ease the change and make it as enjoyable as possible, we have an induction programme in place to support and reassure our new students.
This allows them to meet each other, to become familiar with their new surroundings and to meet their teachers.
